•CONTACT METHOD: PM or
frodabaggins.
•THREAD-JACKING: Totally fine as long as it's public.
•FOURTH WALLING / CANON PUNCTURE: Probably not, no. Some general "oh you're from a zombie apocalypse" might be okay with really genre-savvy types, but nothing for the specific game, please.
•BACKTAGGING: Always - I will continue tagging a thread as long as it takes to complete, or as long as everyone involved feels like it.
•AVOIDED TOPICS: I'm not generally interested in doing plots that deal explicitly with rape or sexual assault; otherwise I'm open to just about anything!
IC CHARACTERISTICS:
•PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Tess is in her mid/late-30s, sharp features, brown hair and eyes, a little on the skinny side (being perpetually undernourished will do that to a person). She's about 5'6" or so, and is far from glamorous. She lives in a world where how you look is really not a priority at all, and most beauty products are not even a luxury - they simply don't exist anymore. Everything she wears is totally practical (and probably shows a bit of wear and tear). She keeps her hair long (again, no real time or energy to cut it), and pulled back from her face with whatever she can find - rubber bands and bandanas or scraps of cloth.
•DEMEANOR: No-nonsense, with an acerbic sense of humor and a sharp intelligence, Tess is as likely to make a joke as she is to beat you with a lead pipe if you cross her.
•ABILITIES: Badass normal - Tess has lived in a post-apocalyptic world for twenty years, so she's got good instincts, knows how to fight with whatever she can find to hand, and is a good shot with a gun too.
•MEDICAL INFORMATION: She's possibly a little undernourished, and she's got a lot of scars on her body, but otherwise Tess is pretty healthy considering.
•OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: Nothing in particular. Just don't cross her. Ever. She is a dangerous enemy.
IC PERMISSIONS:
•MENTAL/MIMICRY: Let me know if you would like to do something along these lines and I'm happy to plot it out. Be aware, if your character would be inclined to read Tess' thoughts and/or memories, they will probably be in for a trauma conga line - she comes from a seriously crapsack world and has seen a lot of terrible things.
•VIOLENCE: I'm absolutely open to this - Tess has lived a very violent life and she is a skilled fighter. She is not above a little torture, and even cold-blooded murder when she feels it's necessary.
•MAGIC: Coming from a totally non-magical world, I imagine Tess is very susceptible to it - let me know what you'd like to do and we'll plot it out.
•DEBATE: Sure! Tess can be pretty argumentative sometimes (to the point of being bitchy), so go for it!
•HUGGING/KISSING/PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Go for it, just be aware Tess is not very touchy-feely and there are probably only a few people who could get away with it. Surprise or sneaky physical contact is a bad idea unless you want her to react with violence - see below!
•SHIPS: I always try to keep an open mind - she's canonically got some feelings for Joel, so that's the most likely direction for shipping if available, but I won't completely rule out other things given enough development.
•OTHER / NOTES: Trigger warnings for Tess and the world she comes from include (but may not be completely limited to): zombies, body horror, torture (mostly the brutal physical sort), serious PTSD and possibly survivors' guilt, child death and torture of children, murder more generally and just a fuckton of violence and gore. Possibly mentions of suicide as well. I will always try to label threads with applicable warnings, but feel free to let me know if I ever miss something or if you need to opt-out of something!
Some things to keep in mind with Tess: She is, compared to most people who aren't from post-apocalyptic crapsack worlds, pretty freaking paranoid. What this means is that she has trained herself to come out swinging if someone sneaks up on her, so if your character is the quiet type, the type to approach a person from behind (and especially the type to do this and then touch the person they're approaching instead of speaking or otherwise announcing their presence), Tess will more than likely react with violence. Same goes for jostling her awake if she's asleep. It's also not a good idea to yell or scream loudly and suddenly near her if the situation doesn't call for it. If you're okay with your character being put in a chokehold, or having a gun pointed at their head, then by all means, go for it! I'm happy to play out threads like that. These are just things to keep in mind.
